I suspect you have a problem in your /etc/samba/smb.conf file. Did you run the command 'testparm smb.conf' ( without the quotes ) ? I should pick out and syntax errors, and parameters that are wrong.
If that does not show you the problem, post your smb.conf file.

I tried testparm, everything seemed fine. I noticed that when I change security from user to domain or ads, and then type samba start in terminal, it only comes up with one error unknown enumerated value 'ads' for 'security'

Is this the same problem posted on another board? Looks identical.

I figured out a little bit of my problem. I noticed that when I changed security = user to security = ads, and then do samba start in terminal, it only comes up with one error, unknown enumerated value 'ads' for 'security'. It used to be that every single line would come up as an error, now its just one. Can someone please direct me in the right path. I just want to set up a simple home domain with roaming profiles.

If this quote is correct, you would be better off starting out with a simple smb.conf file. This one is for a PDC it is way beyond my understanding and knowledge.
I have never set up roaming profiles, so I can not help there. Sorry.
