Samba Problems

I am using Samba 2.2.8 to run a PDC. I used to have this running on RedHat 9, but recently upgraded the Linux distribution to Fedora Core 5. Some of the basic functionality works, but for some reason some users desktops aren't loading completely on the Client machine, and they are told they don't have permission to access the Windows programs they need.

The client is XP Pro. It was working okay until the change.

Would upgrading Samba help?

Has anyone experienced this problem?

Thanks.

I would guess that it most likely will. With a big version jump like that from rh9 to fc5 (why not fc6?) I'm a little surprised that it would even start. The latest samba is 3.23. Unless you have a reason not to though I would install with what fedora supplies and then make sure you do all the upgrades available for through normal fedora repositories.
