Hello yawe_frek

Samba doesn't quite work that way. You can't share a whole computer.

If you created a directory on the Linux machine of, for example, /boxroom then you would be able to share that and it would turn up in your 2000 networkplaces. It certainly does in XP and Vista and I assume 2000 will be the same.

The easiest way to do that will depend on which of your Linux distributions powers the Samba server.

One other thing to bear in mind is that for this to work at all well you will need to create a Linux username and password that is the same as your Windows username and Password, and also on the Linux box a specific Samba user and password that is the same as the other two.

Samba user and password can be created by the code:

Code:
smbpasswd -a bbfuller
If that samba user doesn't exist they will be created and you will be prompted for the password. If the Samba user does exist you will be able to change the password.
