I'm pretty new to samba but this is probably pretty basic. I setup multiple shares and users on my samba server. I set the correct file permissions and ownership for each folder. The problem is that I want a couple of shares to have owner and group write privileges. Any new file written in the shared folder only gives owner write privileges and not group write privileges. It seems so simple but I can't figure it out. It sounds very similar to this problem.

Any ideas?

Do you use the "create mode" directive in the share definitions (eg create mode = 775)

I knew it had to be something simple. Thanks for helping a newbie. It works perfectly now. This is what I added to my share definitions:

force create mode = 0770
force directory mode = 0770
