Samba and vsFTPd working in the same folder

hey im trying to set up a file server with samba working with windows and an ftp server ontop of that for accessing the files from the web. I've set up samba and it works fine with the owner of the folders set to nobody.nogroup, how ever when i try to access the files from an ftp client, it refuses to do anything (i dont have permission), im using vsftpd, the only way i've been able to access files via an ftp client is if the owner of the files is the same as the login used on the ftp client.

i cant figure out how to fix this in anyway, or if its at all possible, i've searched around on the web and even found a post here, but non of them sloved it for me D:

That's pretty much the way FTP is designed: Standard Unix permission checks are applied to the files. With anonymous ftp, you would probably be able to access files owned by whatever user the FTP server runs as, but you wouldn't be able to access arbitrary files across the disk.

Thanks for the reply, i guess i have to split the server into one local area and one ftp area or something then :\

vsftp doesn't let the anonymous user write files by default. You can configure this, as well as the user that the server runs under (i.e., you could change it to 'nobody'), although it seems to be a bit of a security hole if just anyone can access your server without authentication.

solved

solved it. I just had to set the file permissions of the files to 777

Simply used:
Code:
sudo chmod -cR 777 FileServer
