Samba and trusted domains
This is something completely different from my previous posts. Thus,
I have a laptop that is given to me from my company. The laptop has joined the company's domain and I can successfully log-on the laptop at my home. In my home I have setup samba for local users/PCs. I want the laptop to join that domain too! Samba acts as PDC for domain HOME and all other PCs. I can change any setting in my Samba. But, I have no control on the AD PDC of my company. Thus, I cannot ask them to add my Samba as trusted domain. So, can I add my company's domain as trusted to my Samba and thus have the ability to logon to AD and Samba? Thank you in advance, Peter |
I'm assuming the laptop has windows.
If all you are doing is sharing files, you can just map to the resource at home manually to a drive, and authenticate using <domain>\<username> syntax...there really isn't a need to be able to "participate" in your home and work domain on the same computer. |
Correct, but that way I will have to keep my 'home' profile aligned with the 'work' profile. I do not want to do that. Anyway, it seems that nobody else knows something more. Thank you for your reply.
