Samba 3 Filenames with '&'

Colleagues, hi

I just upgraded our office mail/file server
from RH7.3/Samba V2
to Fedora 8/Samba V3

We had many files with '&' in their filename,
eg 'OH&S Procedures'

All served up fine to all Windows clients (Mainly XP, some ME and Vista)
under Samba V2,
but now all directories with & in the name (ie OH&S)
or any directories CONTAINING files with such names,
refuse to display at the Windows clients.

They show up ok on the Linux Box, using File Manager, tho

I understand that there's something different with character sets, etc in Samba3, but can't find a solution in the textbook or online, that will help me get these files back on the users desks.

Tried setting UNIX CHARSET, DISPLAY CHARSET, and DOS CHARSET
to varios options, and rebooting smb and nmb servers, to no avail.
Used utf-8, cp932 and cp850 in various combos.

Any advice appreciated, and Pizza or wine sent as appreciation.

Russell

This is why people test a software upgrade on a test machine before they put the upgrade on a production machine.
