Run a process on more CPUs

Hi everybody,
i've a SunFire V40Z with 2 AMD Opteron 850 CPU (64 bit) and 4GBs of RAM.
I've successfully installed on it Slamd64 and compiled my customized version of latest 2.6.18.2 kernel.
Now i'm running on it a very long process...
To give it the maximum computing power i've reniced that process at -20 but... it still uses only one CPU.
How can i use both CPU's at the same time for the same process and speed up it???
Thanx a lot in advance!
Simone!

the process itself needs to support SMP for it to use multiple cpu's.

More accurately, it needs to be multithreaded.
