rsync question - rollback to backup?

Hello LQ.

Is there an option you can hand rsync so that it updates files that are different between the source and the destination regardless of modify times? I'm building a web development server and will need to roll back changes to previous versions under various circumstances, and the only options I've been able to get out of rsync are "update if newer" and "update all files". The second will work, but it'll take far longer than just replacing the files that have been modified.

TIA.

Surely it shouldn't take all that much longer. All it has to do is check whether a file has changed, which is pretty quick.

Well you wouldn't think so, but for some reason the options I've been giving it only go by the modification date. If the file has changed and it has a newer modification date, it doesn't overwrite it with the older one, which is what I want it to do.
