rpm s390x etc

DB admin wants us to check if all Oracle Preinstallation RPM's are there (same or higher)
binutils-2.17.50.0.6-12.el5 (s390x)
compat-libstdc++-33-3.2.3-61 (s390)
compat-libstdc++-33-3.2.3-61 (s390x)
gcc-4.1.2-46.el5 (s390x)
gcc-c++-4.1.2-46.el5 (s390x)
glibc-2.5-42(s390)
glibc-2.5-42 (s390x)
glibc-devel-2.5-42 (s390)
glibc-devel-2.5-42 (s390x)
ksh
libaio-0.3.106-3.2 (s390)
libaio-0.3.106-3.2 (s390x)
libaio-devel-0.3.106-3.2 (s390)
libaio-devel-0.3.106-3.2 (s390x)
libgcc-4.1.2-46.el5 (s390)
libgcc-4.1.2-46.el5 (s390x)
libstdc++-4.1.2-46.el5 (s390)
libstdc++-4.1.2-46.el5 (s390x)
libstdc++-devel-4.1.2-46.el5 (s390x)
make-3.81
sysstat-7.0.2-3.el5 (s390x)

Now.

Q1. rpm -q only giving me rpm name. How can I find whether
it is s390x or s390 ?
From 'rpmfind.net' also I can see only rpm name but not s390x or s390.
Any suggestion ?

Q2. I can see that following rpm are not installed
libaio-devel-0.3.106-3.2 (s390)
libaio-devel-0.3.106-3.2 (s390x)
sysstat-7.0.2-3.el5 (s390x)

Any idea , whether we can go ahead for Oracle installation without those rpm? ( rpm download site blocked at office & will take some time to get thise rpm otherwise).

my system is RHEL v 5.7

This is an IBM mainframe?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Linux_on_System_z

According to above link:
Quote:
Linux on System z is available in both 31-bit and 64-bit versions. The Linux kernel architecture designation is "s390" for 31-bit kernels and "s390x" for 64-bit kernels.[7] 64-bit distributions can still run 31-bit applications. The 31-bit versions are rapidly losing favor as z/Architecture mainframes become more prevalent than the earlier ESA/390 generation.
That means the s390 and s390x are architecture designations much like i386, x86_64 on Intel. s390 and s390x ARE different.

You can do "rpm -qi" on any installed package to get more information on it.

If this is NOT an IBM Mainframe running system Z then you should ignore the s390/s390x stuff altogether and focus more on your actual architecture. Run "uname -a" to see what kernel you're running. (i.e. if it is s390 which is 31-bit then s390x packages won't run anyway and if it isn't s390 anything focusing on that architecture isn't good).

Absolutely. There is no currently supported s390 systems - only s390x (64-bit zSeries).

With this
Quote:
core-4.0-amd64
you can ignore s390[x] altogether.
