root.lock file in HP_UX

Dear all,

In my HP-UX server in /var/mail directory

-rw-rw---- 1 root mail 107703012 Oct 17 2007 root
---------- 1 root mail 0 Oct 17 2007 root.lock

the root.lock file was automatically created . Now the mail's are not coming for the root user. What i have to do for getting mails. Shall i delete the root.lock file and "# > /var/mail/root" is that enough. Pls advice me

Thanks in advance
Shan

Seems the mailbox have exceeded the size limit as per your mail server policy. You will need to remove unwanted mails from your email account.
Also move that lock file from there to other folder. Its always GOOD idea to move the files from current place rather then deleting.
