Root cause for Cold start-Linux server
 

I was reported our Linux server had a cold start.
How can I found about Root cause. what to check on var log messages??
Please kinly advise.

uptime shows 90 days

Please read the "Question Guidelines" link in my posting signature. Without details, no one, anywhere, is going to be able to help you. As far as "what to check", who knows?? The causes could be anything...since we know nothing about the hardware, software, applications, or OS, we can't even begin to guess.

When (how many hours or days ago) was this reported?
What application or suite of applications reported this?
What values or conditions does that application track?
What are the exact contents of the report?
Are there any (other) applications that track different values or conditions (power usage, network and storage conditions, etc, etc)?


If I'm not mistaken that is a RHEL-5 machine (and potentially even Update 4), meaning it's 7 (yes SEVEN!) updates behind. Careless clients, management, colleagues, lack of maintenance, there's potentially a lot of work waiting when checking this machine and mitigating any problems you're bound to find. Now some things are soo bad they become good again. This sure isn't one of them...
