Rocks does not see any compute node

I have installed new rocks front-end. connected eth0 directly to the compute node's eth0 and it's turned off. I am checking insert-ethers. but it does not see any computer node.
What would cause problem?
I am also checking the eth0 using tcpdump but it just shows
packets sent to 224.0.0.3 whitch I think are not dhcp
eth0 is tuned on 10.1.1.1/255.0.0.0

Did you connect two computers directly to one another via Ethernet (i.e. without using a hub or a switch)? If so, did you use a crossover cable? Is the interface actually up and sending/receiving packets? What do you meand by "and it's turned off"? What is turned off?

Thanks for your reply btmiller. I also connected the two computers using crossover cable directly and front-end did not find the compute node. I mean the compute node was turned-off. I found the answer for my problem and same. I had to change the first boot priority of compute node to Network and then turn it on. The compute node listens to DHCP request and then the installation kick-start started.
Now the nodes are added to the front-end.
