Unhappy RHEL5 server suddenly restarts

hi,

I am facing an issue regarding one of our Linux server, which restarts sudden without giving any error.I have checked the logfile (/var/log/messages) and coudn't find any error which will help me to figure out the cause of rebooting the server.

The server is running with RHEL5 os and is a desktop server.I think because of sudden restart it is not updating the log file.

How to filter errors from logfile?

Is there any other files apart from messages to chek?

Any valid repay will be appriciated.

Regards,
Aneesh V.M

What model is the server? You may need to investigate the hardware logs for errors, possible overheating, dodgy firmware etc.
