Exclamation RH 4 Recover Error with cciss RAID

All,

I am trying to gain access to a system without the root password. Another SA managed to fat finger the new password..

I tried to boot and edit the kernel but I get a strange kernel panic error that appears to be a reported bug and I do not have the option to change software packages at this time.

So I moved onto the next step and booted off CD. I got into the linux recover mode and it didn't auto recognize my onboard RAID. I'm running a DL 360 G5; normally the root partition is /dev/cciss/c0d0p3, I was unable to find any HP RAID drivers manually, but I did notice a Compaq driver that was for cciss. After I add this driver, I still do not see a cciss directory. Any suggestions? I'm sorta hitting a stone wall and this system does have a mission.

Huh, I usually have no problem once the cciss driver is loaded. There's nothing under /dev/cciss? Do you have the hpacucli installed? Can you check with that and see what arrays it sees?

Thanks for replying, I ended up getting this to work by creating a new DVD of the RH 4.6 AS software.

I was trying to do it with straight 4.
