Resizing Physical Disk On LVM Setup

Is there a way I can resize a physical volume00, so I can use the remaining space as a storage on LVM environment? This is the local disk where I installed the whole Centos 5 OS.

Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on
131G 3.9G 120G 4% /
/dev/sda1 99M 22M 72M 24% /boot
tmpfs 1.6G 0 1.6G 0% /dev/shm
30G 67M 30G 1% /mountvol_web
100G 67M 100G 1% /mountvol_ftp

I want to resize / partion so I could use at least 50-100GB as other Volume. Is this doable?

The mountvol_web and mountvol_ftp is part of the separate storage server which I mounted using Conga application.

Boot into rescue, do not allow the rescue disk to detect and mount the OS partition

# lvm vgchange -a y
# e2fsck -f /dev/VolGroup00/LogVol00
# resize2fs -f /dev/VolGroup00/LogVol00 70G
# lvm lvreduce -L70G /dev/VolGroup00/LogVol00

not sure whether it will have data loss
also not sure of how your directory structure looks if you r in rescue mode...
