I have to raesize an ext3 partition on a production server.
Physical disks are organized in raid volume by a raid controller.
I have read many howto on resizing partition (to use a live-cd or to use gparted...) and on a desktop test pc with no (hardware or software) raid i have executed this task without problem.

I think that resizing partitions does not care about the fact that partitions are on a RAID array, because RAID volumes are presented in the same way as if the hardware were not RAID

Am i right?

Have someone already tryed a partition resizing on a hardware raid volume?

Although I never resized a partition on a hardware RAID, your are right that it should be transparent to the OS and should work.

Are you sure it is a true hardware RAID, and not any kind of fake RAID only (where the RAID is still made by software but in the driver, as it maybe unsupported in the live CDs/gparted then)?

It is hardware RAID, sure.
However i have made resize with no problem.
