any client that will be using the printer must have show network printers enabled, which I believe must be ran as root before the computer will search for the network printer. I dont know if your set up to ssh into them all or not so you may be doing some walking
1+ what travis said, also you have to allow the client computers to "add" the printer from the network.
on the computer you want to send the print job from, do something like system>admin>printing and click add. If you have opened the ports and all that you should after a moment see the printer listed. If so add it.
If you mean did I check the Firewall 'Internet Printing' box on the App server, no I didn't, but I have now and still no joy. I also ran the sudo command on both the App and DB servers.
sorry if im posting multiple times, something strange going on over here. Anyways, on the app server you have to tell it to add the network printer. So find your printer config tool and tell it to add a printer, then hopefully it will look for one on the network.
from the gui its system>admin>printing on fedoras gnome, application>admin>printing in kde, and from the command line its something like system-config-printer
The System>Admin>Printing was the key.
The most important thing was in System>Admin>Printing>Server>Settings "Publish shared printers connected to this system".
I'm able to submit print jobs from an App server and it works!!!
