regarding fsck checktime

Hello,
I found following log in /var/log/message
Mar 15 21:55:00 internal kernel: EXT3-fs warning: checktime reached, running e2fsck is recommended
Mar 15 21:55:00 internal kernel: EXT3 FS 2.4-0.9.19, 19 August 2002 on ide0(3,69), internal journal

Is it necessary to do e2fsck after checktime reached.

Thanks,
Mahesh

it's not "necessary" but certainly a good idea. you should have an fsck check order listed in /etc/fstab for that filesystem. if the last number on the fstab line is greater than 0 then it would be scanned in line with this warning on boot. if it's not in fstab or you are mounting and unmounting outside of boots, then you can unmount it and run fsck manually.
