regarding apache installation

i was trying to install apache 1.3.37 . i downloaded zipped file and uncompressed it on my linux box.

when i was configuring it i used the following command

./configure --prefix=/usr/local/apache --enable-so --with-apxs

then it threw an error saying that --enable-so and --with-apxs were invalid options but i keep finding them in the installation manual
please help me resolve the issue

--enable-so is for Apache 2.x only. For most people using the latest release is optimal so I suggest you do too.

For apache 1.3.x the correct configure option is:
Code:
./configure --enable-module=so ...
and there is no "--with-apxs" option. It's used when you build other modules to use with apache (as the php module)
