Unhappy redundant internal DNS issues

I have two DNS servers (bind) on 2 C blocks serving as both internal and external DNS.

They are both working well, but if I turn named off one DNS server the other DNS server refuses connections on the internal view.

Has anyone seen this problem before?

It has me perplexed. I want to move one of the DNS servers to a co-location but if I take it offline the other DNS server stops responding to requests.

Hi,

Without the named.conf of both servers and/or a dig output of the failing server, it's difficult to say what's wrong.
So please try to give more details.

Regards
