redhat 8 on z/VM
 

Hi,

I was able to build the redhat 8 guest on z/VM.I am trying to find the publication file for REDHAT 8 ISO image. in which directory i can get it ? I tried looking in each folder but I dont see it.

zseries expertise is in short supply here. I would suggest you sign up for the linux-390 listserv at marist - still looks to be (very) active.

Since you're using Red Hat Enterprise 8, have you called Red Hat support, since you're PAYING FOR RHEL? (right??)

While you are technically correct and posting these every so often could be worthwhile, I am not sure if you know about this: developers.redhat.com.

To me, building RHEL on z/VM should qualify for the free developer license :) Who know he/she may already have signed up. If I read that license correctly, it is for self-support only (no phone support).

Yes, I'm very aware of it. However, given the fact that the z/VM system is designed to run on mainframes, the chances that the OP has one at their home is slim. They are pricey machines, and if a company can afford one with the maintenance for that machine, they can easily afford a single RHEL license. And getting things to work on a mainframe isn't something trivial, either, and can be very involved...engaging support is the best idea.

This is a community forum, not a place to come for free, personalized one-on-one email tech support. As told to the OP, RHEL 8 is a commercial, PAY-FOR distro for mainframes. If your company can afford a mainframe, they can certainly afford a license for RHEL 8, which will get you the tech support you need. Contact RHEL support or your RHEL salesperson, and they will get you what you need.

For your information we paid for S&S and I opened a case on redhat support, but the response time and technical people with strong experience I can find on the forums and I can solve faster a common problem, that is te reason of the forums to exchange experiences. Also, for your information, you cannot get for free a RHEL 8 therefore you can no say I AM here for free, I am here to exchange experiences and check who has similar problems and accelerate the solution and no wait days for some replies.

No, you hijacked someone else's thread and asked people to email you directly, not to 'share experiences' on the forum. You literally wanted someone to email you a file and talk with you one-on-one over email to solve your problem.
Wrong; you can absolutely download/use RHEL 8 for free; what you do NOT get is updates/fixes/security fixes/patches and support. And since you claim to be using RHEL on a mainframe, that means you have a corporate budget and you say you're paying. With such a budget, it's hard to believe that the sales/support staff is going to make you wait 'days' for help.
Oh? How much did you pay to sign up here?
Use the support you paid for...if you feel like you're waiting too long, then complain to your sales rep.
