RedHat 7.1: wrong format device name inserted in fstab by VMware Tools installer

the following is inserted in /etc/fstab by the VMware Tools installer /vmware-config-tools.pl:
# Beginning of the block added by the VMware software
.host:/ /mnt/hgfs vmhgfs defaults,ttl=5 0 0
# End of the block added by the VMware software.

The mount of the device .host:/ is rejected

Obviously the intention is to mount the root dir. of the host (windows7).

Does anyone know a proper and still working device name?

you do know that "RedHat 7.1" ( RH7 ) is very old and has not been supported in a very long time
it came out in 2001 10 years ago

and ran the( now) very old and no longer used 2.4.X kernel

it is SO old that it has NO support for Microsoft's NTFS format
it can only use fat , so it will never see windows 7 ntfs drive
