real time lLinux versions and pthreads high frequency programming


What versions of Linux have real time kernel??

There are extremely few complete GNU/Linux OS's which run RT kernels out of the box. RT is usually a specialized area devoted to embedded devices rather than daily-usage computer operating systems.
One RT example is RTLinux (now apparently known as Wind River Linux), is here:

Note that I'm not sure if RTLinux (or whatever it's called) is wholly a GPL'd GNU/Linux OS, as the website appears to mention such pesky things as patents and other licenses.

For the most part though, real-time Linux kernel is a set of patches and modifications that are applied to a kernel, to make it RT.
