RAID Recovery help
<SOLVED>
Here's my setup:
5 x 250gb hdd
Partitioned one of those drives and installed linux server on that partition, the left over space on that disk was partitioned as raid. The other four drives have single raid partitions on them. I then used mdadm to setup my raid5 /dev/md0 with the five partitions, so I have disk0 part0 my server OS, disk0 part1 raid, disk1 part0 raid, disk2 part0 raid, disk3 part0 raid, disk4 part0 raid. I've had disk3 die, replaced it and rebuilt the raid array fine, but today disk0 has died!
I know my setup was bad, having the OS on the same physical disk as a raid partition, but hindsight is 20/20. Is there any way to recover the array with another linux OS?? I'm thinking about a persistent USB boot, installing mdadm and hoping to recover the original raid array minus the failed disk.... is this possible?? If so how do I do it?? Thanks in advance!
