Quota problem after kernel update

Hi all,

On one Debian 4.0 x86_64 previously running kernel version 2.6.18-6-amd64 (installed with upt-get upgrade) I updated with the last stable kernel 2.6.35.5

The problem I'm facing regards the quotas.
In dmesg I'm getting errors like:
Quote:
EXT3-fs (sda3): Quota write (off=4080, len=40) cancelled because not block aligned
VFS: dquota write failed on dev sda3
The users are shown like overquota and edquota, quota commands are running OK, but when they go overquota I get this errors and quota not functioning.

What problem can this be?

Thanks,
Enid

I have not worked on Debian nor have I upgraded Kernel yet so I am not sure. But try this:

Set a new quota for a new user and see if it works.
Remount the file system / mount point using:

Code:
mount -a
or check the entry in /etc/fstab if it has usrquota in place of defaults or defaults, usrquota

remount the file system:

Code:
mount -o remount /dev/whateverPartionName
See if

Code:
quotacheck -ugc /dev/whateverPartionName
is giving any error.

It seems to be a kernel problem, now I updated the system with dist-upgrade and the kernel now is the default of Debian.
The quotas are running fine now.
Regards,
Enid
