Question regarding File Sharing / Samba
Setup:
Server: Linux Suse 10.2
Samba: 3.0.2
Workstations: Windows XP SP3
Problem:
Samba is running with a user account and a share setup. The user account permissions are 777 on the share.
There are a total of 5 workstations using Windows XP. Each of them are mapped to the Suse server with no problems, using the same user name and password.
(2) of the workstations can see all directories and files contained within with no issues. Read/Write, copy over... they can do what they need to to work.
(3) of the workstations can only see the directories and can NOT see the files contained within.
Not sure what all is incorrect with the setup. I did not setup the Suse initially. I am coming in behind someone to clean up (not fun). Anyways, I have confirmed the file permissions, and confirmed the user with the share on the samba server. Just not sure why we can not see the actual files.
Another thing I did try... I used a thumb drive on one of the Windows workstations that does work properly with the samba server. Copied over a file to the thumb drive. Verified the file is actually on the thumb drive, then went to one of the other workstations, and the file is no long visible on the thumb drive.
It may be something simple, but when following behind, its hard to figure out exactly what the problem is.
Any ideas ??
