If I run the "du ." command in the directory /var/lib/mysql/mydbname, I get 47 MB size of all fils.
If I do the mysqldump of the same database, I get a dump sql file of 611 MB!
How it's possible?

In a nutshell mysqldump generates a text file of SQL commands i.e. create and insert that will recreate the database. So the dump contains more information then just the binary data which is why the file size is bigger. You can view the SQL file with any text editor.
