Question about linux command hdparm

Every time I type in the command

hdparm -i /dev/sda

I get the following output:

bash: hdparm: command not found

yet when I checked to see if it was installed, hdparm was installed.

rpm -qa | grep hdparm
hdparm-6.6-2

How come I keep getting this error message and how can I get hdparm to run or is there another command I could use to find out how big /dev/sda is in terms of MB or GB?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Probably hdparm can only be executed by root. Try logging in as root or use su or sudo to run hdparm.

I am running this as the root user. I still can't get the output I want which is the hard drive information. Is there another command similar to hdparm that I could use.

hdparm is not on your root's PATH (which is surprising. Are you running in some sort of chroot jail?). On my Debian system hdparm is in /sbin/hdparm. You can find out where hdparm is with this command:

find / -inmae "*hdparm*" | less

Then you can run hdparm by giving the full path to the command.
