question about BIND caching behavior
Do cached results stored in a local, forwarding BIND server on my LAN stay cached across different users/IPs that query it? Like, say I query "linuxquestions.org." from my machine, and then someone else makes the same query from a different machine. Will the second machine get a cached result, or does BIND make another external query, even though it's the same domain name? I would think ideally it should do the former, to reduce the total of external queries necessary.
Let me know if this doesn't make sense as a question. |
It would be madness for bind not to be designed like that!
I am as confident as possible without testing, examining the source code or finding it explicitly stated in the documentation that is how it works. |
