Pure FTPD & Squid Help!
Ok i have a few questions i need to ask, mainly involving Squid and Pure-FTPD, -- Running Debian 3.1 R1
1. I installed Pure-FTPD and i try to run it and get this - "Unable to start a standalone server: Address already in use". i look at Nmap for my server and it showes port 21/tcp as open, but ive checked and from what i can see, i dont have an ftp server running.
2. Im trying to use squid to setup a proxy that i can connect to outside of the local network, i need to be able to log in from any computer, and i would really like to password protect it if possible.. but my problem is. i have it running, start squid, nmap shows port 8080 as open, but it wont work when connecting from a computer outside the LAN or even on the LAN. (Ive also changed our internet router to forward ports 8080 and 21 to the server but still no luck)
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
P.S. i Know this is a double post also done in the Debian forums, but i think it would be better suited here.
