Protecting hard drive contents on a deployed server

Hello everyone,

I was wandering if any of you have had any experience protecting the hard drive contents of a server, which located at the customer. E.g. if you don't want the customer or someone else poking around in the deployed code, scripts, or database? Or if a hard drive was to be stole (you know those server hard drives are really easy to remove).

Encrypting directories or hard disc partition is an option, but wouldn't you have to store the password somewhere?

Hope someone could shed a little light one this one

Normally you can protect deployed code with permissions.
Physically stopping someone from stealing the hard drive is trickier. For the matter they could steal the whole PC / Server.
Backups become even more important in that case. Backup regularly and check your backups.
