Promiscuous Mode on a Linux Host / chgrp in init.d not working

Hi

According to the instructions of VMWare,
https://www.vmware.com/support/ws55/...omiscuous.html

I created a new group 'vmnet', added my user to it and gave the group write access to the vmnet adapters.
If I start my script with the command manually, it works.

I created a mini script in /etc/init.d and enabled it in the defaults.
Basically this works ( touch file...), unfortunately only not with the permissions on the Device.

Do you have any idea what might be the cause?
Perhaps the VMWARE service somehow overrides that
EDIT: forgot to say that each restart restores the original state of the vmnet adapters..

Because it seems to be too complicated to create system-wide settings when logging in of any user, I made it short and painless.
I just put in /etc/profile.d/custom-settings.sh the following:
"sudo chgrp vmnet /dev/vmnet*
sudo chmod g+rw /dev/vmnet*"
Of course, I made sure that I could do this via 'sudo'. And done.
