Problem with Linux server KVM

Hi community of LinuxQuestions,

I'm a newb in Linux and trying to setup a KVM server to do some research on penetrationtesting operating systems. I'm currently trying to install an quest OS with the Kali Linux Light iso. The installation goes fine but after the install when I boot i see a completely black screen. Normal Kali boots fine.

What i did:

sudo virt-install --virt-type=kvm --name Kalilight  --ram 2048 --vcpus=2 --os-variant=debian9 --virt-type=kvm --hvm --cdrom=/var/lib/libvirt/boot/kali-linux-light-2018.3-amd64.iso --graphics vnc --disk /var/lib/libvirt/images/kalilight.qcow2,size=40,bus=virtio,format=qcow2

To VNC to the machine I make an SSH tunnel with forwarding.

So the following happens

On boot:

Selecting safe boot: it normally boots

Any idea why i just get a black screen on boot? I tried googling but could not find anything usefull.

I would try to get an error message.
So, use safe boot and from there you should be able to look for errors or warnings into past system logs.
