Postfix Virtual not working correct
Hi,
I got a Debian 6 Server running and it uses Postfix as MTA. I have set up 3 Domains and a catch all rule. My virtual file looks like this:
alice@aaa.com alice
bob@aaa.com bob
@aaa.com bob
@bbb.com bob
@ccc.com bob It works fine so far. Now I tried to add this line on top:
something@aaa.com alice and it did not work (mail gets delivered to the catch all address). It seems, it works ONLY if the part before the domain and the local recipient are equal. Does that make sense to anyone? What did I missconfigure?
Regards

What do you mean in detail by something a wildcard or a specific user?

Just to ask a potentially dumb question, did you remember to run postmap on your alias table after you made the entry and then reload Postfix?

@Reuti: Some usernames I tried. e.g. "joe" "john" "yeti" "default" ...
@Noway2: Yes, postmap + restart

For me it looks working. But it will only deliver the email to another address without changing the receiver address in the header. Maybe it ended up in a spam filter? Can you check the various postfix logfiles, what it did with the emails?
To rewrite addresses there are canonical maps in postfix.

Ok, I found the solution, it was in my postfix main.cf configuration:
I changed
mydestination = aaa.com, bbb.com, ccc.com, localhost
to
virtual_alias_domains = aaa.com, bbb.com, ccc.com, localhost
Thank you all for your help!
