Postfix SASL authentication (UNIX accounts) problem
Hi all, I'm using postfix with unix accounts for a while now and I just realized today that SASL authentication, instead of working only with the USERNAME, it also works if the username is followed by ANYDOMAIN.COM
So, let's say I have the following UNIX users: tim, mike, john.
If I set the Outgoing Username: tim@whatever.com, mike@whatever.com, john@whatever.com (where whatever.com can be any name you can think of) IT WORKS, even though it shouldn't, it should only work with tim, mike and john without any domain name.
Does anyone know what might cause this and what's the workaround to this problem?

Boss,
Go for Sendmail Auth. It works better than postfix:
here is the link where u can get much more ideas.

Thanks for the suggestion! But I prefer not to mess with a perfectly working and tested setup, especially since I have hundreds of users.
So, is there a solution for my postfix + saslauthd setup to ONLY allow the UNIX username to login ?

Well, never mind ! I found the solution, in fact I knew it all along. I configured postfix to authenticate through dovecot and now it only allows the USERNAME without anything else.
