Maybe you hit this bug. Try upgrading to postfix-3.1.4-2 and see if it solves your problem.
Or try just the last post on the link above, i.e. use the following in master.cf
Code:
lmtp unix - - y - - lmtp

I don't think the problem is postifix because the emails corretly are sent externally.
the problem I've is on incoming emails from external so I think it's dovecot configuration ports and protocols.
I can telnet inap and pop3 correctly locally but no answer if I try from another computer not in my local web.

Please help me.

What I've posted above is related to the fatal errors you get from postfix about lmtp (dovecot).

What you mean by local web?
If you mean your local network, then you should open ports 110 and 143 on your server's firewall.
If you mean from the internet, then you need to also forward those ports from your router to your server

yes i meant local network.
my ububtu default software firewall is turned off, so i don't think it depends by it.

So i can telnet from localhost but not when I try on my friend computer.

I'm most curious to understand practicaly how to verify what you says about the router configuration to accept inconing requests on specific ports.
Can you help me to understand this?

thank you

Then it listens only on local loopback interface (that is 127.0.0.1)!!! Run the following command to check:
Code:
netstat -tanpl|grep dovecot

This is for internet accestt to your server.
You should first try to solve the problem above. If dovecot doesn't listen on the public interface of your box, then any other discussion is useless.
Then you can use your favorite search engine and look for "Post forwarding" for your router model.

What local IP address? Could you please post the output of the command?
From you post #4, I guess you can "telnet localhost 143", but not "telnet server-IP 143" from a different box in your LAN.

from my Lan I can telnet my server.
The problem is when I try to telnet from outside my lan, I mean from internet.
So I used my friend's computer to telnet my public ip on pop3/imap ports and the connection were refused. Now I open the doors as TCP (neither as TCP6 because my router hasn't that option nor UDP bacause not listed in the netstat see above) and finally I can reach my dovecot

The problem is that the email still doesn't come from the internet for example from www.hotmail.com or www.gmail.com sent to my server. I really don't know why.

do I've to say somewhere to dovecot to accept email not only from local but also from the world wide? Where exactly?

this is the master.conf

# user in Dovecot system. It shouldn't have access to anything at all.

Didn't I tell you in my 2nd post to open those ports in your firewall and you replied that the firewall was off!!!

Anyway since now dovecot replies to telnet, you should re-read my 1st post about the bug and the possible solutions.
Then send an email from gmail/hotmail/whatever and watch the mail logs for errors to post here

I'm not familiar the ubuntu package manager, but if you have used your favorite search engine, you would end up in something like the following if you want to update a single package:
Code:
sudo apt-get install postfix
Or you can update the whole software if you like. See this for more

Why don't you first try to change the lmtp option in postix config file before trying to upgrade postfix?

I tried to google but it's hard to get the right information so I found this website:

https://packages.ubuntu.com/zesty/am...stfix/download

so I've created a file "postfix.list" within the folder "/etc/apt/sources.list.d" with the following command

Code:
deb http://de.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/main/p/postfix/postfix_3.1.4-4_amd64.deb zesty-updates main
So I ran apt-get update and I think nothing has been updated and I got some packages error infact doing
Code:
postconf -d | grep mail_version
i get

Code:
mail_version = 3.1.4
milter_macro_v = $mail_name $mail_version
Code:
~# sudo apt-get update
