I have installed POSTFIX SMTP server.
But now i am totally blank about further steps regarding how to configure it, how to use it to send mails, how to create new users etc.
Please help me out.
I am newbie in this field.
So please elaborate whatever the steps are.
Sorry to ask such a question.
I read some documentations. But they were very abstract like written for experts and very hard to understand.
But the links provided above are really helpful.
Thank You.
I am glad that the links are helpful. Email servers, like Postfix, can be very difficult to set up as they require about a dozen main packages, half of which need to be explicitly configured as well as database operations, etc. If you run into trouble, just post a message and I am sure you will be able to get help. The best thing to do is to look in your syslog and mail.log and see what the error message is and post that. Sometimes it is obvious and sometimes a search of the message in quotes can lead you to a response. Be careful about copying text out of posts and using it in your configurations. Certain characters like ' and ` get mixed up and have very different functions.
If it takes you a hardtime to configure/setup a mail server you can also try ClearOS or Ebox (which is now zentyal). It provides all the basic IT needs from firewalls to webservers(apache), mailservers(postfix)... and these are easy to understand and configure.
