possible reason why there are a lot of /dev/sda*

We were provided with 2 identical servers to be used as a DB server. I noticed that node1 has a lot of devices compared to node2. (screenshot attached)

How is this possible and should I reinstall linux to fix this? I installed linux myself and all the partitions I created are identical to one another during installation.

what do you mean by identical?
what will fdisk -l respond?
why do you think you need to fix something/anything?

identical in a sense that these two servers have the same hardware configuration. They are supposed to be 2 nodes in the same cluster. Linux has just been installed 2 days ago and no other changes have been made.

i'm setting it up to be in production and if I can avoid problems now by reinstalling; then I would do it now because it is harder to fix the problems when it goes live when downtime is not an option.

Wonder if one is set to manage many remote nodes using that /dev scheme?

Hi, I have not configured any any nodes (or even to manage anything remotely) on this node.

There's no plausible explanation here except that the configuration of the two servers – possibly with reference to things like SANs – is not the same. Perhaps the one which only shows a couple of entries right now is the one that is somehow in error, not vice-versa.

The /dev directory may have nodes created for disks which are not currently attached to the system. They don't hurt anything. To see the actual block devices use lsblk.
