Thumbs down php5 mind games

the problem is simple:

"checking for MySQL UNIX socket location... /var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock
configure: error: Cannot find MySQL header files under yes.
Note that the MySQL client library is not bundled anymore!"

So where are the mysql header files under now?

No it cannot be distro specific. php is compiled under source. The hardware stats also are irrelevant in this case.

I had compiled php 4 under suse and fedora the SAME way and they both worked only until 5 came along did it do this. Thus downloading any rpm is out of the question!

I'm look for a proper solution. Not an "apt-get/yum/yast" which will not work in my case.

If you installed mysql from your distros packges, then you need to install the mysql development packages (devel or dev packages). If you compiled mysql from source, then you need to point php to the location of your mysql installation when you run ./configure.
