Path for file storage in database

I have my application installed on one linux machine. Through the aplication, I want to store some files in my database which is located on another linux machine. The normal procedure to upload files in LOB fields requires me to give the path of the file. The path I specify, it will try to locate the path on the machine where the database server is. How do I specify a path of my aplication's machine?

Thanks in advance.
