password less login from windows to linux using openssh


Hi All,

Greetings!!!

can someone show me some light on configuring passwordless login to openssh windows from linux.

FYI - It works like charm with password authentication.

I assume you use putty, you need to look for putty configuration, for example: https://www.tecmint.com/ssh-password...in-with-putty/
If you need something else, please be more specific and describe your situation better.

To log into my windows machine running cygwin/openssh from linux, I simply used the ssh-copy-id utility from the linux computer to add the key. It was exactly the same process as setting up another linux machine for passwordless login.

If you're going the other direction and use putty as a client, see the putty manual. If you want to use your linux-created key with putty you need to "convert" it to putty format, or you need to use putty to generate a new key then manually paste it into your linux computer authorized_keys file.
