I have 2 more drive I want to add to existing array and add space to existing volume group.
How to do it?
==>Do I need to run in another run level?
==>Does changing to raid 5 help?
==>All I really want is increase space to /var /usr and root
/usr and /var in volume group
Not enough information:
1) By PE 2950 do you mean Dell PowerEdge 2950?
2) If so does it have a PERC card for hardware RAID? If so which PERC does it have?
3) Are you in fact using the hardware RAID on the PERC? Or are you doing software RAID?
4) By RAID 1 4 drives do you mean you have two different RAID 1 (mirror sets) comprised of two drives each presented as 2 LUNs to the OS?
5) Does your Volume Group (VG) have both the RAID 1 LUNs in it? Or do you have separate Volume Groups.
You might want to start by running "vgdisplay" to see what exactly is in your VG now. Perhaps you already have unused space?
1- you can install open manage "server administrator" for linux(didnt know that)
2- either do a reconstruct ( dont know if this a good idea)
I created new virtaukl disk with 2 new disks installed - mirrored it
3- ran system-config-lvm
4- added to current volume group
5- initialized and extended size as needed
