I can't seem to find the question anywhere, but I don't think its just my setup (at least I hope). Anyways, the jist is that I have FC5 setup as a server and use putty to connect to it via SSH. Works good, but sometimes (most of the time) after I use pico, nano, or vi text editor, when I exit the editor the window will have moved my cursor/prompt up, instead of back at the bottom, and cause overlapping text. The text isn't gibberish or anything its just stuff thats already been displayed before I went into the editor. The only way for me to be able to easily see what I am typing is to use the clear command to get a clean prompt line.
I'm having it too - doesn't bother me much, since clear is quick and the command history helps, but if you're using the client from ssh.com it's not behaving like that, so it's just some..umm..thing in PuTTY. I hope they'd fix it..
Though I haven't played around with the settings of PuTTY too much. I hope it's not anything as easy as checking a box there..
Well, the reason I thought that maybe I could do something on the server to fix it is because I have been using Putty for a long time on BSD and Redhat and cygwin. I never had the text overlap problem then. So thats why I think that maybe there's a setting or something I can change to correct it.
