openwrt + cups + canon pixma mg5150 usb-printer

Hi folks,

Since the openwrt forum fails when I request my new password (I assume they're having some issue) I'm going to try my luck here.

My goal: a netgear with openwrt backfire installed (latest version) as printserver for my usb-pixma_mg5150 from canon.

I installed cups and the usb modules and loaded them, when catting /proc/.../usb I see that the printer is recognized with name and type in the file.
However, it seems impossible for cups to use or find it.

Is there anybody with some experience with an openwrt-cups-printserver who can shine his/her light on this?
Now I know that this canon printer is some kind of a pain on linux but it would be real convenient if I could use it as a network printer this way.

thanks and kind regards.
