OpenNIC + 3rd party DDNS (TZO) How-To?

I want to ditch GoDaddy and use OpenNIC, starting with setting up a DNS server (facing the internet.)

Can someone step through this?

If I go to register a .free OpenNIC domain, do I want to use OpenNIC DNS servers for the domain since it's going to provide DNS services? Or do I need to set up a DNS server? If the latter is true, I'm using DDNS, so what IP addresses do I give for my DNS servers?

I haven't found any material which walks through the actual process for anyone that can't afford a static IP address.

Thanks in advance.

I ditched this idea. Instead I went with something simpler-- hosting my own web site from home on a CentOS 6 server using dyndns. There's supposedly even a way of putting up a web site from home without using a paid dynamic dns service, but I'm not sure on the technical legality of it, so this works just as well.
