OpenLDAP to be configured as s DOMAIN Controller.

I have configured OpenLDAP with basic settings.

I can connect a linux machine to that Domain controllerI can query to that server and I get answer also.

I can add user and machine to the database also.

But the only problem I have is with joining a XP machine to the OpenLDAP server.

While searching on google i came to know about registry settings and many other things which helps joining XP maxhine to this OpenLDAP server, but none of them worked.

I am using XP professional machines. I have configured OpenLDAP server on RHEL4.

Can someone give me the proper direction to get this problem solved.

If I am correct at what your post says you are trying to add a windows XP machine to your domain?

You would need to be using samba with an OpenLDAP backend if that would be the case. When you say you can add a user and machine are you adding this to the built in samba database or the LDAP database? Have a look at your LDAP database using JXplorer (http://www.jxplorer.org/) to make sure things are going where they need to be.

Also, turn logging on in /etc/samba/smb.conf and watch the log at /var/log/samba/smb.log and see what is actually happening when you try and join the XP machine to the domain. There could be a few things wrong before it all works...
