if you are only looking for authentication, not shell logins, then AD is typically configured identically any other ldap server. again, there is no "open source" aspect to any of this. We clearly can't help you configure "web" or "mail"... just refer to the documentation for the specific packages you're using and they should provide all the information you require. There's no point asking for such vague vague information here.

Please accept my apologies. I dont mean to waste anyones time here. Just a little confused and want to find a strong solution to AD and OpenLDAP sync. Clearly there is no simple guided solution to this. thank you all for your input

I've never installed PosFix & Docecot. But if you say you can connect it to OpenLdap, then change the parameters to connect to AD.
AD is LDAP, so if you have a domain called "course.com", a search from command line can be:
Quote:
ldapsearch -x -h course.com -b "DC=course,DC=com" -D
"CN=pupil00,OU=Users,DC=course,DC=com" -w "passworduser" "(sAMAccountName=pupil00)"
This connects to AD and search for information of user pupil00.

If you are able to configure PosFix to connect to OpenLDAP, then change the parameters to connect to AD.
I don't know if this post can help you:

AD also uses kerberos, so perhaps you can validate users using kerberos (read documentation of products to know if it's possible...).

Regards

that helped. AD is authenticating now to all windows and Linux clients. Likewise-open did the trick for me. I connected all my Linux machines to AD Domain and it works now. THanks again for replying!
