OpenIPMI Python Module for Ubuntu

Hello,

I am trying to get the python GUI working for OpenIPMI on Ubuntu and I can't find the required OpenIPMI python module. Does anyone have any idea where to find this module suitable for Ubuntu 8.04.4 (Lucid)? There are RPMs available for different RedHat flavours but I can't find anything for Ubuntu.
Your help will be greatly appreciated.

Tx

Welcome to LQ. .. .. ..

Yes, there are "OpenIPMI-python" packages for Fedora, PCLinuxOS.
( And some more rpm based, may be.) But none for Debian, Ubuntu.

The Hardy ipmi packages
http://packages.ubuntu.com/search?su...&keywords=ipmi

The OpenIPMI source code
http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/poo...16.orig.tar.gz
> > openipmi_2.0.16.orig.tar.gz

Ubuntu 8.04.4 Hardy : sudo apt-get install \
python-dev swig libncurses5-dev libgdbm-dev libpopt-dev libsnmp-dev libperl-dev
( tix tcl8.4-dev tk8.4-dev libglib2.0-dev python-wxgtk2.8 )

cd OpenIPMI-2.0.16/
patch -p1 < OpenIPMI-2.0.18-pthread-pkgconfig.patch
./configure --prefix=/usr/ --with-tcl=no
make && sudo make install
... will provide : /usr/lib/python2.5/site-packages/OpenIPMI.py
and /usr/bin/ :
ipmicmd ipmilan ipmish ipmi_ui openipmicmd openipmish rmcp_ping solterm
.

Hello,

I am trying to use the OpenIPMI-gui, I had the same problem and it has been fixed following the topic. Thanks. However, I encountered another problem trying to run openipmigui:

userme@userme-laptop:~/usr/bin$ python openipmigui
Error: no support for init_tcl()
Aborted

Any idea?

Thank you very much for your help.
