odd httpd behavior. (only able to load pages for abour 30 seconds.)

hello, I have an odd problem with my webserver (just a box sitting in my basement (fc5 and apache )) and i dont have a clue about where to go tracking down the cause of it.

symptoms are as follows:

- browse to: http://mysite.com

- ..works just fine for about 20 seconds (can surf around for that long within the site)

- then all of a sudden, everything starts timing out and wont load. wtef??...

- nothing will load and the problem is persisting.

- close browser. reopen browser. try to load page and get nothing at all. straight to timing out.

- try a ping to the site. ping responds fine and within reasonable time.

hmm...

- go to another computer in the house.

- load the page.

- works fine for about 30 seconds and then starts timing out on everything.

- check back after clearing the browser cache... still nothing.

I have no idea where to start with this problem.

any ideas?

You probably need to check the logs for your webserver to get an idea what might be happening. We also have no idea what your webserver is doing, such as if it runs scripts that may have some problems such as exceeding a quota or just plain crashing that instance of the apache client.
